ULTRA-K ISOLATION TRANSFORMER

K-Rated Shielded, Isolation Transformer

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Scope

This specification describes the features and design of the K-rated shielded isolation transformer. All systems are designed and manufactured to assure maximum reliability, serviceability and
performance. The overall function of the isolation transformer is to support harmonic rich non-linear loads while maintaining safe temperature restrictions. The Ultra-K also isolates sensitive electronic equipment loads from electrical noise and voltage impulses.

1.0 General

The Ultra-K is a copper wound, K-rated, multi-shielded isolation transformer. The shielded isolation transformer will step the secondary voltage to provide the correct output voltage and offer superior common mode and transverse mode noise attenuation.

2.0 Standards

Ultra-K systems are designed and manufactured in accordance with the following:
American National Standards Institute (ANSI C57.110)
Energy Act of 1992, H.R. 776 DOE defined in NEMA Standard TP-1-1996
Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE 519-1992 and C62.41-1991)
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70 National Electrical Code (NEC)
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1449 and 1561
Energy Act of 1992, Efficiency Standard H.R. 776 DOE defined in NEMA Standard TP-1-1996.
Federal Information Processing Standards Publication 94 (FIPS Pub 94)

Less than 60 dB for 300 KVA to 500 KVA units measured from 1 meter.

3.5 NOISE ATTENUATION

3.5.1 Common mode noise is attenuated to -126 dB for dual shielded transformers. Triple shield to -146dB. (Optional)

3.5.1.1 The transformer incorporates a dual or triple copper electrostatic shield to minimize inner winding capacitance, transient and noise coupling between primary and secondary windings. Inner winding capacitance is limited to .005 pf or (.0005 pf for triple shield) between
primary and secondary windings.

3.5.2 Transverse mode noise attenuation shall decay 20 dB down per decade under full resistive load.

3.5.2.1 Transverse mode noise attenuation shall be 3 dB down at 10K Hertz, decaying 40 dB per decade with a resistive load. (Optional )
